Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

For young people 11+ and adults

If you are finding that negative thoughts are starting to regularly impact on your everyday life and general functioning then CBT can be an effective solution.

CBT is a positive, structured form of therapy and has proven to be beneficial for depression, anxiety, phobias, insomnia, OCD, chronic pain, and low self-esteem/confidence building.

How does CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) work?

CBT helps you understand how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions and teaches ways to shift those thoughts so daily life feels more manageable, balanced, and genuinely brighter.

CBT is ‘present focused’ and:

Shows you how to recognise the negative thoughts you are experiencing now and how to challenge them by teaching and practising CBT core techniques

Teaches you additional specific skills and strategies to combat your main concern e.g. Anxiety reducing tools, graded exposure, habitual reversal

Helps you to think more realistically and make changes

Offers you psycho education so you can understand why things happen

Is structured and evidence based

Uses goal setting and self-practice

Is a joint effort between the client and the therapist – We work together to reach your goal

Alongside CBT I often incorporate elements of Solution Focus Brief Therapy which explores times when you are not anxious or low, allowing us to discover natural strengths that you can use in the difficult moments too.

If you would like to know more or wish to book a session please get in touch here.

If you are neurodivergent please be assured that all the therapies I offer can be adapted to suit the individual.  Traditional CBT may not work for you but if adapted to acknowledge emotional regulation needs, sensory needs, and communication styles it can be successful.  Your autonomy is always at the heart of my work
